Kidneys

I had an appointment with my Urologist yesterday. He ordered an ultrasound to see if there were any blockages to find out why I get so many UTI and kidney infections. I had the ultrasound this morning. I got to see our baby again too. They looked at the baby first and she is a she, it's good to get confirmation :0) She is healthy and looking great! Her heart rate was about 147 and she was measuring 5 days smaller which is fine. The tech guy told me last time she was measuring a week off. She is in the breach possition right now. Her little bum is right against my cervix.
Then he got to my kidneys. First he looked at the right side and that one had 3 round black spots in the middle of my kidney (usually indicates fluid) I asked if it was normal and he didn't really give me a straight answer but I assumed it was close to it. Then he got to my left side and the spots that were black on the other one were more like gray in this one and they looked all shriveled up. Then he looked at my ureter and the right side was spraying out great but the left side only had a tiny little spurt. It sure did look cool but I think that means something isn't right. He was kinda quick about getting the pics and wouldn't really say much except, "shows what pregnancy does to your body." I am not totally sure what that means but I hope my Dr calls me soon to let me know what they found. Good thing you only need one kidney huh. I guess that counts me out from ever donating a kidney, I need what I have. Scary!
A bit after my ultrasound I had an appointment with my midwife. I got a ton more info from her to try to cope with some of my fears and hopefully make myself more confident in doing this drug free. I am so glad I found her I know she is going to make this birth so wonderful! She thinks I should take some birthing classes but they can be pretty pricy so I am not sure what I am going to do. But I have signed up to do classes at the center with some other women that are about as far along as I am so that should be good we will be able to talk to a Douala and watch videos and talk with each other to get some questions answered. I found out more about what is going to happen during and after the birth. I basically can do what I please. I will be able to birth into mine or Dave’s hands and hold the baby till I am ready to deliver the placenta then Dave will take the baby till I get cleaned up and in a chair. Then I will feed the baby. When the baby is finished and ready to sleep Becky will take her and do the exam right there on the bed with me. I will have to come back to the center 2 days later to have a couple tests done for the baby then I will need to take her in a couple weeks later to the pediatrician. I found out that the goopy stuff they put in babies eyes at the hospital is to guard against STDs that the mother may have passed on. I know I don’t have any of those so I really don’t have to do that if I don’t want to. Same with the hep B shot that I had Gage and Jack both get is not really necessary as an infant so I don’t think she will be getting that shot till later in life, I tested neg for hep B. So I am feeling a lot better already about everything. She gave me some books to read and I am going to start making a birthing plan.

Some Problems

The kids and I went to the corn maze with my family yesterday. My hips are now screaming at me, too much walking. I don't remember my hips feeling this way with Gage but they hurt with Jackson right around the same time. I think it may be even worse this time though. They feel like they are going to disconnect from the joint, they are so loose. It hurts.
I quit my job yesterday. I have a kidney infection so I had to miss some time that was not going to be excused. Being part time I do not get as much time off as others do so I figured I would quit before I was fired. But that's ok I love being a SAHM! There is no better place then right here with my kids! I have my next appointment on Tuesday and I also have an appointment with a urologist on Wednesday. they may put me on preventative meds for my UTIs and Kidney infection so that it won't happen again although it makes me a little nervous so I am not too sure if I am OK with taking meds my whole pregnancy. We will see.

Girly Things

I am so sad to think that I have to give away my boys clothes. There are a few I think I will still keep, I still have things from when I was little so I think it would be nice for them to have some things of theirs. When I was putting the last size away that Jackson grew out of, and this was before I found out I was pregnant, I cried cause I for some reason just knew I wouldn't have another boy. Who knows maybe we're not done having kids but I am pretty sure we are. just in case I will make sure they don't go too far from home so that I can get them back if I am of need.
I made my first girl thing purchase. I am SO excited! And it's my favorite thing about havin a girl. Well my fav thing about dressin her, besides getting to paint her nails. :0) Don't you love these! I want to make a bunch of them.

The Name

So I think we have decided to call her MaryJane. Dave's grandma's name is Mary, my grandma's name was Mary Jane and my mom and my sister's middle name is Jane so it works out. We are not sure if we will add a middle name to it or if MaryJane will be the middle name and give her a different first name or just leave it at MaryJane by itself. Whatever we decide she will still go by MaryJane.
When my mom and I told Gage what we were going to name her, We then asked him, do you know who MaryJane is? To see if he was actually listening. He said, it's the goblin. (He is thinking Spiderman, his fav movie at the time) I told him no his name is Norman Osborne Mary Jane is Spiderman a.k.a. Peter Parker's girl friend. Then I tried to explain to him that we were not referring to Spiderman but the baby in my belly. He told me he is pregnant with a boy and that he was going to name him Spiderman. LOL :0)
Jackson is still not aware of what is going on but he LOVES babies! He gets so excited and just laughs every time he get's close to someone smaller then him.

The Ultrasound

I had my ultrasound this morning. I went to a place that is usually for high risk pregnancies, not sure why? But I had a nurse do it first then a Dr came in and checked things out too. They were having a hard time getting the pictures they needed for the heart and the face because the baby was laying face down. But they said they did not see anything abnormal that would make them think there was a birth defect, so we are in good shape. They tried for a while to get the pictures they needed so they were pushin on my belly pretty hard and were bumpin the baby around. after they finally gave up my stomach hurt! There were a couple times where they must have been pushin on the baby in a weird way or something cause I got a couple sharp kicks that were different then I have felt thus far. We got some great news! IT'S A GIRL!!! At the beginning of the ultrasound when she was getting a picture of her leg I got a shot of it. My heart was going crazy cause I knew. It was not till the ultrasound was almost over when she told us it was a girl. We are SO excited! How could things work out so perfect? I always knew it would be this way ever since I was a little girl. Dave is my sole mate and I love him with every bit of my heart! I am so blessed to have this family! :0)

Feeling a Lot of Movement

I am 17 weeks 5 days pregnant. I love my skin right now, I have that pregnancy glow. One of the many perks of pregnancy. The past week I have been able to feel the baby move a lot. Mostly when I am sitting in the car or sitting at work. I had my Dr's appointment yesterday and when she asked me if I have been feeling a lot of movement before I could answer she said it's still pretty early so we don't expect you to. So I guess this baby is a strong kicker or I just know what I am looking for after having 2 already. :0) But my babies have always moved a ton! I gained 8 pound this month. WOW but Becky said they want me to gain 10 pounds by the time I am 20 weeks so I am about right there so no worries. In the beginning I lost 2 pounds I was not really gaining at all so I guess it is just because I am feeling better and eat more like I should. My belly is measuring perfect, it's about a finger width down from my belly button. I sure do feel bigger though! While I was at my appointment I got a copy of my ultrasound order and it said it was scheduled for Monday the 6th when I thought it was the 7th. I work Mondays so even though getting to see my baby even a day sooner is exciting it would have been hard to go. I just called the hospital and they clarified that it is in fact the 7th so we are good to go :0) SO EXCITED! I kinda have a feeling I am having a boy but we will see...
